 | Welcome | Aug 15, 2004 |
Hello everyone! Thanks for visiting and reading a part of my life. I am happy to be able to share with you some of the photos I have, be it on a trip overseas or special events. Do drop a note if you like. And see you back here soon... :D | | Halo, here are the photos you are so hungry for. And pls, like I'd said, don't expect too much la. We shall wait for Mrs. Chong's full collection. In the meantime, here are some to satisfy the poor & hungry... ;p
The reception group photo is so blur! Hai, well done, Bestman. |
| | Wah, I've FINALLY uploaded the last bit of my US photos. This is THE most memorable and my FAVOURITE place. Big big difference from Longmont. Miss those days...
I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do. :) |
| | The Grand Canyon. Needless to say. It's grand, it's big, it's wide, it's deep, it's crowded, it's simply Beeeautiful...... |
| | This is Silverthorne, a huge shopping outlet which has 3 villages all around a junction. We are actually quite near Aspen which is a popular ski resort. I've read that this is where the rich & famous likes to spend their holidays. It was COLD alright! Cold even during the day. And it just gets colder and colder. At night, it snowed!!! Lucky us. *dreamy eyes* |
| | Another trip to the Rockies. This time to Wild Basin. The forest is so thick that we were told snow is unable to melt, therefore we can see snow all year round. Ronny came along with us today. |
| | Royal Gorge Bridge. The world's highest suspension bridge. Built more than a hundred years ago. The bridge is built over the granite gorge that was carved out by the Arkansas River. |
| | The Great Sand Dunes. They are really great. Piled so high (Highest is Star Dune at 229m) We've only managed to scale the High Dune which is 192m tall. And THAT was quite a feat already. Imagine hiking on sand. Those sand was accumulated some 12,000 - more than a million years ago. It seems quite odd. The mountain range stretches at the back, and then a huge pile of sand is deposited just in front of the mountains. A huge contrast to the landscape around. I was simply overwhelmed by the vast area of sand. The 5-hour drive was worth it. (Though I'm not the ones who drove). Credit goes to CM, Grace and K. ;p |
| | This is Garden of the Gods. Known for it's red rocks formation. We saw many tried to scale the rocks and there are many small holes in the rocks. Not sure what they are, probably some home for the birds. The sun was bright but still quite chilly. |
| | It's the annual Oktober Beer Fest in Denver, Colorado. Modelled after the German Beer Festival, it's a smaller scale and the selection of beer is quite limited. Price is steep, too. There are games for all to enjoy. Rodeo is one of them. Quite fun watching the mechanical bull throw each of them off. There are some really good ones who can stay on the bull. The game operator even demonstrated himself. Man, can he ride. Guess only the real bull can shake him off! |
| | This is Denver, the capitol city of Colorado. Just like any city with tall buildings and busy streets, unlike Longmont. If you are thinking of visiting Denver, just fyi, 16th Street Mall is the most popular street with many restaurants on both sides of the road. There's even a free bus shuttle that takes you up & down the street. |
| | A normal lake in our town. Even the view here is fabulous. (Don't have to go up to the mountains to see this) Spotted many animals here. Geese, birds, an extremely looooong trail of birds flying across our heads. Could have been a few kilometers long? they definitely took more than 5 mins to fly across the sky. There's rabbits, doggies & jumping fish! |
| | We went up to the rockies again. This time, its a scenic drive all the way across the Rocky Mountains National Park with Chee Meng & Grace. Most of our time is spent in the car. However, we managed to take quite a number of photos along the way. Love the scenic view, although it's extremely cold that day. |
| | Hello, this is one of the amusement parks in Denver, the capitol city of Colorado. Fyi, the tickets are expensive! US$45! Fortunately, we got in for free as it's sponsored by his company. Imagine, the whole park is booked... |
| | Castle Rock. Another shopping outlet. There's 3 in Colorado,fyi. |
| | This is my first trip to the Rockies. We did not go on a real hike. Most of the time is spent driving around the mountain in our lil' PT Cruiser. Finally, we stopped by Lake Lily. It turned out to be such a nice lake. How can we miss not taking any pictures? Every angle is simply breathtaking. |
| | This is one of the more interesting streets in Colorado. I forgot if it's in Longmont itself. Anyway, I think it is an hour's drive away. Very vibrant with many shops by the side walk and buskers along the pathway. We had dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Expensive food but service isn't fantastic. Food is not so bad. Today is also Chee Meng and Grace's first day here in US. |
| | This was where I had resided at Longmont, Colorado for 2 months. A nice comfortable inn owned by Marriot. We are greeted by the views of Rocky mountain everyday and also by the parachuters who litter the sky daily. :) |
